New vehicles bought in Germany

For the registration we will need the following documents:

  • Copy of the purchase canotract where you are the registered owner
  • Zulassungbescheinigung Teil II (the vehicles ownership certificate)

    or the

  • COC-document (certificate of conformity)

If it is a motorhome we will also need the gas book/ or the DINA-4 document with all the build in gas appliances type numbers listed

Used vehicles bought in Germany

For the registration we will need the following documents

  • Copy of the purchase contract where you are the registered owner.
  • Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (the vehicles registration certificate).
  • Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II (the vehicles ownership certificate).

If the vehicle is more than 3 years old:

  • Valid MOT documents (HU and AU-Bescheinigung).

NB: MOT has to be renewed the first time after 3 years after that every 2nd year!.

If the vehicle is not deregistered by the previous owner:

  • Both license plates

if it is a motorhome we will also need valid gas test documents.NB: gas test has to be done every 2nd year after puchase!

5-day short time license plates

Short time license plates with green insurance card - price 150 euros

NB: Short time license plates only have liability insurance. You minimum have to show us a copy of the registration document, but the original purchase contract and the original MOT documents.

Demo license plates

The IMC has its own demo license plates which include full comprehensive insurance with 500 Euro in self-insurance.

The demo license plates can be rented for 80 euros a day if you want to pick up a car in Germany.

Export license plates

Must be used for export in countries where short time licence plates are not permitted and in third countries.

Besides liability insurance you also have to pay ACT for the period you want.

The vehicle must have a valid MOT-document which has to be shown at the motor office at registration.
